Martin Nulty Senior instructor of Rathcoole Wado Karate Dojo.

Martin Nulty started training in Wado Ryu karate at the age of 10. In the Rathcoole Karate club run by Mr. Sean O'Brien, At that time there were 60 students training and Martin is the only one still training today. In 1988 the club closed and moved to Clondalkin.

Sean O'Brien was a Brown belt through this time getting his First Dan black belt in 1990. Martin was the senior student in Clondalkin and when Sean O'Brien and Martin began training under Sensei Derek Desmond and Sensei Robert McGrath in the Dublin Airport Club Martin found this training much more challenging and in 1993 when Sensei Robert McGrath started WIKF in Ireland at the request of Sensei Suzuki, the Clondalkin Club decided to join his federation and continue training under Sensei McGrath Martin requesting to move clubs to Sensei McGrath's Dojo to further his career in Wado Karate and prepare to grade for his Shodan (Black belt).

Which he successfully did under Sensei Suzuki in 2001. Martin received his Nidan 2nd Dan black belt from Sensei Suzuki in 2007 Martin has represented Ireland to the highest level on the National All styles Team (O.N.A.K.A.I. national team) in many National and International events at senior level.

He has won several junior events during the 80's and won his first senior all Irelands in 1989 and many more titles over the following years and being placed second in the WIKF European Championships in Spain.

In 1999 under the supervision and help of Sensei McGrath, Martin opened his own club in Rathcoole bring him back to his roots. Since the club opened it has produced champions at all level of events. Many students have won WIKF European championships and many have collected sliver and bronze medals at these events.

In 2005 the WIKF World championships was held in Texas , at this event Jade Kinsella took the Gold Medal and this was Irelands first WIKF World Champion. Other members of our club won Silver and Bronze at this World Championship.

In 2007 five of the clubs students passed their Shodan Black belt, they have all trained from the first night the club opened its doors. The club now has 7 Dan grades training regularly.

In 2009 at the European WIKF Championship in Cyprus Kelly Hanlon won the under 55kg Senior Ladies Event. Martin Nulty holds the position of Chairman of WIKF in Ireland and is one of the WIKF in Ireland Squad Coachs.
