Wado Kokusai Karate-Do Remni

Welcome to the Home Page of the Wado International Karate-do Federation in Ireland.

WIKF in Ireland, main aim is to standardise authentic Wado Karate-do techniques through its Schools, as taught by Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei.

The Federation is a non profit organization, with all it's committee members and Instructors giving their time voluntary.

What Is Karate-do?

KARATE-DO is a Japanese system of unarmed defence based on blocking and striking with the hand, foot, head, knee and elbow. The strong martial arts tradition of Japan has made it a distinctive discipline. There are four schools of Karate-do in Japan; Wado, Shotokan, Gojo and Shito. Each style has its own features, but all have World Wide Organization, with codes of practice and discipline as well as teaching curricula and belt grading examinations

What Does Karate-do Offer?

Activities consist of stretching, aerobic and an-aerobic exercises, with the well known benefits that these bring. Regular training and the practice of the wide variety of physical movement involved in Karate-do results in an over all improvement in health and physique. Karate-do can be compared to swimming, gymnastics or ballet in its complete and overall benefit as an exercise.

Long term practice helps to develop the following in a person Self discipline, Self confidence, Mental discipline, Self defence
Better physical condition, Flexibility and Improved Fitness.
